According to representatives of the Cadillac company, in the near future we should expect an online presentation of the electric Cadillac Lyriq. The crossover will be completely new, and due to the coronavirus pandemic, they decided to change the presentation format, like most manufacturers. Looking ahead, it is already known that a huge 33 ″ display of the multimedia system will be located in the cabin. Unlike the new Escalade, which has a 38 ″ OLED display (made up of 3 separate displays), the electric Lyriq will have a curved and unibody display.
The height of such a screen is 127 mm, and the width is about 914 mm. Despite the fact that the display will be solid, it will still be programmatically divided into three zones. Closer to the driver's door, there will be an area for controlling the car's functions in the cabin, in particular, lighting, displaying various information, and so on. The central part, of course, will be occupied by a digital dashboard, but the rightmost part will be reserved for the multimedia system. An option is not excluded in the settings, which will allow you to display a whole image on the display, without dividing into sectors.
Most often, this mode will be active at the time of parking, reversing, or charging the Cadillac Lyric battery. The crossover display itself is partially touch-sensitive (only the side parts). The control of the Cadillac Lyriq multimedia system was removed from the central part of the panel. While the question remains with the very location of the display, will it be on the overview line or slightly lower.
If we talk about the technical characteristics of the new Kadilak Lyric, then there is also not a lot of information here. The manufacturer only revealed that a completely new platform from GM served as the basis for the electric car. In the future, the same platform is planned to be used for a number of new electric cars from General Motors (Buick, GMC, Chevrolet and others). In addition to the new platform, the electric crossover Cadillac Lyriq will receive a battery of its own design.
According to company representatives, it is capable of providing a power reserve of 640 kilometers without recharging. Preliminary, the capacity will be from 50 to 200 kW * h, but there is no exact information yet. The battery will support charging, with a capacity of up to 350 kW and operate under a voltage of 400/800 V. The Cadillac Lyriq is scheduled to start mass production in 2021, and will appear on the North American market no earlier than 2022.
