Replacing the timing belt is carried out according to the regulations every 60,000 kilometers. We are considering a car with an 11183 engine, so even if the driver slept through this moment, the valves will still remain intact. That is, it must be remembered that the valves on such an engine do not bend even if the timing belt breaks.

Belt replacement tools for Lada Kalina

First of all, you need to stock up on a tool, the presence of which is optional, but it will make the operation much faster and easier.

  • Ratchet. Instead, you can use a regular crank, but then you will definitely have to look for a 12-sided head for 13. If there is none, then you will have to somehow get out, more on that later;
  • Open-end or box wrench for 10;
  • Socket wrench for 19 with a long extension, about one meter. Of course, either a knob or a ratchet;
  • Tensioner roller fixing device. Can be bought, can be made, looks like a key for a nut on a grinder, only the distance between the "horns" is less;
  • Open-end wrench for 17;
  • The key is 8, no matter what.

Replacing the timing belt on the Lada 2114: description of the procedure

So let's get started. First, we unscrew the filler cap, remove the plastic protection, twist the plug into place. We remove the windshield washer reservoir, after removing the pumps from it. He's just going to get in the way.

Now we unscrew the right corner of the engine mudguard, which is located under it. This is necessary so that you can unscrew the crankshaft pulley. It is better to do this with the wheels turned all the way to the right.

From the engine compartment using a 10 key, unscrew the three bolts securing the timing belt cover. One bolt from the end, the second from the side of the cabin from above, the third just below the second, is easy enough to find by touch. Remove the cover, we see the timing belt. Now we put the assistant in the salon, turn on the fifth gear, and he keeps the brake pedal depressed. This is the easiest way to prevent the crankshaft from turning during unscrewing. Of course, we unscrew the bolt securing the crankshaft pulley. This is done from under the fender of the right wheel, if the protection was previously unscrewed, then it will be visible. Sometimes you need to unscrew the wheel arch liner.

After unscrewing the pulley, it is important to protect the crankshaft and camshaft from turning in order to avoid setting the timing marks. Then we unscrew the tension roller with a 17 key, at this moment it is also better to keep the brake pedal pressed.

Important! It is necessary to check the tension roller for backlash and squeaks. It has a tremendous load, so there should be no noise during rotation.

Now we put a new belt, fix the tension roller with the device, then tighten the nut. Once tightened, the belt should bend 90 degrees. That's all.
